What are The Friends?

The Friends of The Castle is one of the most successful groups of its kind in the area and was originally formed as a support group for The Castle Theatre and Arts Complex prior to the official opening of the building back in 1995.

 The original steering committee for The Castle project became the first Founder Members and were quickly joined by other supporters and well-wishers. Today, the names of all the original Founder Members can still be seen on a plaque on the wall of the box office foyer.

 From then on, the Friends membership grew rapidly to its current level of well over 1400 and new members continue to join us each year. The Friends overall aims are to support The Castle, to raise funds to supplement the budget and to extend and enhance facilities and the quality of The Castle experience.

 To show the extent of these aims, the Friends have over the past 10 years contributed approximately £100,000 to various projects including training bursaries and equipment.

April 2008 -Since The Castle opened in 1995 The Friends have raised a huge £148,697.54!!
