Past Achievements
Over the years, aside from providing social opportunities for Friends to meet, the subscriptions and profits from such events have been used to provide important equipment and facilities which otherwise may not have been possible within the The Castle's operating budget.
Such things have included an annual training bursary for a trainee theatre technician and upkeep of the Steinway piano, itself one of the original purchases by the Friends. Radio advertising, furniture, drapes, display equipment, sound equipment and security improvements have all featured on the Friends' shopping list at some time.
All members of Friends of The Castle can view the impressive summary of all the items donated by the Friends to The Castle by contacting the Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer.
Recent successes
The Castle has recently extended the existing facilities and there is now a purpose built dance studio used by various groups throughout the week.
The Friends have given every possible support to this development including a substantial contribution towards the financing of such a major project.
The foyer and bar area has recently been redecorated, and contributions from the Friends meant that the balcony area could also be completed at the same time thus ensuring a consistent colour scheme.
To be able to provide this continued financial commitment, The Friends are always looking at new ways to raise funds. As from February 2005, 'The 200 club' has added to the funds on a monthly basis whilst at the same time offering cash prizes to those who have joined.
